Communication begins by listening with your whole body. We’re familiar with nonverbal communication, or body messages that we receive from ourselves and others. This includes body language and body knowing, such as our gut feeling about situations. Though nonverbal is often the most powerful form of communication, most of us have had little practice with it. KidPeace Communication workshops are experiential, and provide this practice. Exercises such as The Peace Minute, Just Listening, and The Caring Connection give experience in varying nonverbal and verbal ways of listening to yourself and others. After the exercises, participants discuss how their learning might impact their communication with their children.
